Beam the Gnome

Mentha spicata ssp., or mint, is a spreading perennial herb belonging to the Lamiaceae family.  Along with absorbing zinc from the soil, mint has a variety of uses, including in food and tea, and the oil for flavouring, or in beauty products. It also has possible health benefits, with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.  The flowers that grow on mint plants are nectar rich, attracting bees and other pollinators.  It is, however, toxic to cats and dogs.
